International support

At the Shelley Memorial Project, we are always keen to encourage more supporters to our ever-growing list. Of course, many are local, residents of Horsham who would like to see their most famous son commemmorated. But increasingly, our reach has become international.

Earlier in the year we reported on our connection with a Californian school. Our latest supporter is an 11th grade student from the institution who is undertaking literary studies.

Louis Liu, who describes himself as ‘an ardent Shelleyan’ and Shelley as a ‘linguistic savant’ explains, ‘I first discovered Shelley about a year ago through the Shelley Society at Oak Park High School, under the wonderful guidance of Kathleen Schultheis. As I read more of Shelley's works, I found myself deeply entranced by his ideas. He has become a companion to me in both thought and spirit.’

Expressing his gratitude for the work of the project, Louis added, ‘Shelley has taught me that imagination is not an illusion, but rather an awakening. May his voice continue to resonate through the ages.’
