Spirit of Rebellion

When the fabric of society is rocked
When legal processes are blocked
When the countryside’s burning
Prison keys turning
We know that it has to be stopped.
Our peaceful protesters under lock and key,
Yet grand lying, grand deceiving, grand cheating go free.
Do we have democracy?
Our greatest export!
When it’s broken, flawed
We become outlawed,
So courage is required
Hearts & minds fired
Calm rebellion required
“The law is an ass”.
We need some sass
Before disaster comes to pass
Look away, look up, look out!
While they pontificate and spout,
obfuscate, berate, fan hate,
point the finger away to distract-
Let’s act. Act now. How? Radical compassion.
Love and hope.
Say it.
Be it.
Vote!
Call them out.
Be loud and shout.
You have clout, more than you know.
It’s truly so.
Share.
Be aware.
Care.
Be alert. Be a learner. Be an earner of respect.
Not too reliant, too compliant.
The rebellion is love.
Be the sage
Get onto the stage
Use your rage
Your wisdom and age
Get up off your seat
Get onto your feet
Out into the street
Don’t get bound in the lies and deceit.
Look up, look around:
Green sterile fields
with falling yields
abound.
