Sponsor a poem : build a legacy
Be part of something enduring
The Shelley Memorial Project invites you to sponsor one of four iconic poem extracts by Percy Bysshe Shelley, each to be permanently engraved on the memorial’s beautifully designed plinth.
This is a rare opportunity to connect your name with timeless poetry, cultural heritage, and a landmark that will inspire visitors for generations.
Choose Your Poem
Each face of the memorial will feature one carefully selected extract.
Three are currently available:
Ode to the West Wind
‘O wild West Wind, thou breath of Autumn’s being,
Thou, from whose unseen presence the leaves dead
Are driven, like ghosts from an enchanter fleeing…’
Available for sponsor
Ozymandias
‘My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains…’
Available for sponsor
The Masque of Anarchy
‘Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number -
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you -
Ye are many - they are few.’

To a Skylark
Proudly sponsored by The Arts Society Horsham
‘Hail to thee, blithe Spirit!
Bird thou never wert,
That from Heaven, or near it,
Pourest thy full heart…’

The story so far
The Shelley Memorial Project has a talented committee in place which includes poets, writers, musicians art historians, curators landscape architects and administrators. Artwork by the sculptor Vincent Gray has been selected, extensive public consultation has been delivered, and further design consultation completed. The location within Horsham Park is agreed. We have a partnership agreement in place with Horsham District Council in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding and the budget has been agreed.
It has taken several years and a great deal of hard work to reach the stage of a planning application which can be viewed here.
